Two Barns From The Family

Schneider Farm 12x12" oil on panel
Backlit Barn 20x24" oil on panel

I live on a century farm. The farm has been in the family since 1911. The first painting above was painted at the farm next door, where my Grandpa grew up. the second painting was where my Great Aunt Elva grew up. She milked cows in this barn, and it's located on HWY S.

Painting has given me a sense of place in this area. I didn't know that my great aunt grew up at that farm, until after I painted it, and my Mother recognized it.

Terry Farm Shed

Terry Farm Shed 12x12" oil on canvas
The sugar maple tree behind this shed turns orange every September. Its a smaller tree, and only receives light in the afternoon, and I use it to gauge the start of autumn. This is the Terry farm, on Terrytown Road, which is my go-to road to find subjects.

This painting is available at McFee on Main, located at 400 E Main St. In Mount Horeb, WI. I have around 25 landscape paintings displayed there. The space is beautiful and I am flattered to have a space close to Madison.

Here is another farm on Terrytown Road. If you ever want to come out and paint in the area around Baraboo, drop me a line, and I can show you around my favorite farms.
